Ceneviz (Genoese) Castle
Ceneviz (Genoese) Castle is a Unesco Tentative World Heritage Site in Amasya. The castle was built by the Romans and consists of the sections of Sormagir Castle and Zindan Castle. The Boztepe Arch links these main masses to each other. The castle was mostly used during the Genoese period in the region, most probably taking its second name from it. The Byzantines and Ottomans used it then. In the fortress, Eros, Medusa, an eagle, ox-headed figures, and Genoese arms can still be seen.
