Church of Saint Peter (St. Peter's Cave Church /St. Pierre Memorial Museum)

The Church of Saint Peter is a cave church in Hatay Province, Turkey, called St. Peter's Cave Church at the same time because it carved into the foothills of the Stauris Mount (Hac Dagi). It has been known that it is the first Christian church in the world because Saint Peter gave his first sermon in this cave church and the community was called Christians for the first time. It became a religious center after Saint Peter was accepted as the first Pope and the spread of Catholic faith throughout the world. After the Roman Empire adopted Christianity as an official religion, some gothic parts were added to the church. In 1983, it was declared a place of pilgrimage for Christians by Pope Paul VI.
