Constantine and Helena Church

The Constantine and Helena Church can be found at the Andaval Archaeological Site, which is eight kilometers from Nigde City. The church was reportedly built by Constantine's mother, Helena, despite the historical sources being ambiguous about this. It is generally accepted that Helena constructed the church while en route to the Holy Land. The church was known to be strategically located on the route to the Cilician Gates, and archaeological evidence suggests that it was built in the fifth or sixth century. Over the centuries, the church became more significant, and a holy well was constructed close by. The remains are still accessible today.
