Damlibogaz Archeological Site

Damlibogaz Archeological Site is situated on the hillside of Kaletepesi Hill, 8 km from Milas. It was known as Hydai during the ancient era. It has been known that Damlibogaz was first settled in 3000 BC, but the city was founded in 478 BC and was a member of the Delian League with the name Kydae. A temple dedicated to the gods Apollo and Artemis, as well as Hellenistic stone tombs, can be found among the ruins. Besides, recent archeological digs revealed so many pots that are decorated with unique motifs created by the Caria Region in the Geometric and Orientalizing Periods.
