Deniz Castle (Maiden's Castle)

Deniz Castle, also known as Maiden's Castle, is an island castle in Mersin Province off the coast of Myrtle. According to the historical resources, it was probably built after the First Crusade by Byzantine King Alexios I Komnenos. It was repaired and/or rebuilt twice, firstly by Leo I in the 13th century, and then most probably by King Hetum I. It was conquered by the Karamanids in the 15th century, and the name Goygos changed as Kizkalesi.
