Elmali

Elmali is a town on the outskirts of Mount Samanli in the Iznik region. It was founded by immigrants from the Caucasus in the 19th century. One of the most visited sites in the neighborhood is the wooden mosque, which is said to have been built by craftsmen from Trabzon in 1897–1898. In the Southern Marmara region, this wooden mosque is the only one that was built entirely of wood using a nail-free technique. It was restored in 2013 and can be visited now.
