Giresun Virgin Mary Monastery

Virgin Mary Monastery is a cave-carved monastery that dates back to the 2nd century AD in Giresun Province. It is located in Sebinkarahisar district of the city. The monastery looks like the Sumela Monastery in Trabzon Province. Both of them are built on the facade of a mountain, above the ground. The monastery has 32 rooms and a church at the top. It was restored in 2013 and opened for visits in 2014.
