Gonen

Gonen is a well-known district among travelers situated in Balikesir, Turkey. It is in the southern part of the Marmara Sea and is known for its thermal sources, has a reputation for leather processing and rice production. According to Ottoman explorer Evliya Celebi, the town was a kind of governor's summer holiday destination for its hot springs. Two vigorous earthquakes damaged the town in 1440 AD and in 1953.
