Gumuskesen Mosuleum

Gumuskesen Mouselum is located on the east hillside of the Sodra Mount in the Milas district of Mugla. It is a sumptuous sample of its kind, made from grey and white marble. When the

construction technique and the characteristic features of the marble ornaments were considered. It can be said that the mousehole dates back to the 2nd century. It is also considered that this kind of mouselum should be made for the senior manager and his family. Although it evokes the Mausoleum in Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Gumuskesen Mouselum is unique, and its closest counterparts are mostly found in the Eastern Mediterranean and Northern Mesopotamia (South Eastern Anatolia).
