Ikiztepe Moud  

Ikiztepe Mound excavations were started in 1971. It is located in the Bafra district of Samsun Province. The archeological site consists of 48 tumuli, 5 rock tombs, 3 cemeteries, a castle, a bath, and a bridge. The mound was known to be a cemetery between 2300 and 2100 BC, where 690 skeletons were discovered during the excavation. Ikiztepe Mound is probably the largest cemetery in Old Anatolia; since the first excavations, 623 graves have been identified.
