Isa Bey Mosque

One of the most impressive surviving works of architectural art from the Anatolian beyliks is the Isa Bey Mosque, which was built in the fourteenth century. The mosque was constructed in honor of the Aydinid Isa Bey by the architect Ali b. Mushaimish Dimisklioglu and is located on the outskirts of the Ayaslu Hills in Selcuk, Izmir. The mosque's design is based on that of the Great Mosque of Damascus. Unfortunately, the mosque fell into disrepair, and by 1829, it was in ruins. The minaret collapsed in 1842. During the 19th century, it was even used as a caravanserai. Next to the mosque, there is an octagonal Seljuk tomb made of stone and brick, featuring a pyramid-shaped roof.
