Izmır Clock Tower

Clock Tower is located in Konak square where is the area between the İzmir Government Office, Kemeralti Bazaar entrance, Konak Yali Mosque, and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality buildings. It was constructed the celebrate the 25th anniversary of the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II in 1091, considered the most aesthetically pleasing and elegant among all the Ottoman clock towers. It rises above the North Africa theme columns to 25 meters with an octagonal plan. Its platform is made from white marble and the rest of the building is cut stone with Muqarnas (an Islamic architecture style) decorations. It was harmed in 1974 with an earthquake but repaired and working today.
