Iznik Museum

The Iznik Museum is housed in Nilufer Hatun Imarethane, a type of charitable institution created by Ottoman Sultan Murat I in 1388 in honor of his mother. It was transformed into a museum in 1960. The museum displays a variety of artifacts gathered from the Iznik area that date back to both the prehistoric and Ottoman periods. The entire structure was carefully constructed using a variety of cut stone and bricklaying techniques, and the building is one of the best-preserved Ottoman buildings in the region.
