Kahramanmaras

Kahramanmaras is a province located in the Adana Section of the Mediterranean Region. Its former name was Maras, but it took the name Kahraman, which can be translated as 'hero', because of the locals' brave resistance during the Turkish Independence War. Since 1973, its name has been Kahramanmaras. The city has a reputation for its ice creams, which are cooked with local goat milk. Attractions include the museums Kahramanmaras and Miniature Liberation, as well as the natural sites Dongel Waterfalls, Baskonus Plateau, and Yesilgoz Sinkhole, as well as the historical sites Seven Sleepers (Eshab-I Kehf) complex, the Kahramanmaras castle, Tas Inn, and Ceyhan Bridge.
