Kars Museum

Kars Museum opened in 1959 in Vilayet Mansion and was housed in Kumbet Mosque, also known as the Holy Apostles Church for a while. Later, the archaeological studies that were done in the region required a new and larger building. The new and modern Kars Museum opened in 1981 in the Istasyon district of Kars. Artifacts from the Paleolithic, Bronze Age, and Christian eras can be found in the archeology section. Local garments and manuscripts can be seen in the ethnography section. The wagon that belonged to Kazim Karabekir Pasha and was given to the city by the Russian generals who came for the Treaty of Kars in 1921 can also be seen in the museum.
