Kocaeli Archaeological Museum

Kocaeli Museum is situated in Kocaeli Province, in the historical railway station,, which was designed by German architect Otto Ritter and built in the 19th century. The museum has more than 3500 archaeological and ethnographic objects in its collection from periods including the Paleolithic, Hellenic, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman. The statue of Heracles, the bust of Socrates, and the season statues (summer, winter, and fall) are the best known artifacts.
