Kultepe (Kanis Karum) Archaeological Site
Kultepe is a tumulus, located in the northeast of Kayseri, and consisting of Kanis and Karum sections. The tumulus is where the earliest written records from Anatolia were discovered. It dates back to the Chalcolithic and even Neolithic eras. The Kayseri region was a bustling stop and trade center due to the historical Silk Road; as a result of the findings of Kultepe, it was thought that it was a lively place and trade center in ancient times. The artifacts that were found during the Kultepe digs, can be visited at the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara and in the Kayseri Archeology Museum.
