Melendiz River

The river originates from Mount Melendiz, passes through the Ihlara valley and Aksaray region, and pours into the Salt Lake from the Konya-Aksaray border. Its length is 60 km and the Mamasin Dam, a rock-fill body dam, takes place on the river. The river is fed by the streams Yaglidere, Kukurt, Sekiler, Asmasiz, and a few others. The river is also home to the endemic Cappadocia chub known as Squalius Cappadocicus.
