Meric Bridge
Meric Bridge was begun in 1833, but Sultan Mahmut II, who was in power at the time, died, and his successor, Sultan Abdulmecit, completed it in 1847. It is 261 meters long and 7 meters wide. The bridge also has reliefs with double dragons, stars, crescents, and birdhouses, which have special meanings in Ottoman culture. Today, the bridge and the cafes around it can be visited.
