Mevlidi Halil Mosque

Mevlidi means "happy birth," and the Mevlid-i Halil Mosque was built next to a cave where it is believed to be the birthplace of Prophet Abraham. It is known that there was a temple here during the Seleucid Period, a synagogue during the Judaism Period, and a church during the Christian Period instead of the mosque. During the Ottoman period, Mevlid-i Halil Mosque was built in 1523 in the same area by Muhammed Salih Pasha. Throughout the years, it was repaired and finally restored in 1951.
