Osman Hamdi Bey Museum

Osman Hamdi Bey is one of the best-known Turkish painters. He is known for his masterpiece, The Tortoise Trainer. His summerhouse in Kocaeli was converted into a museum in 1987. It has been known that he spent the summer months throughout his 26 years and his last days in this house, and most probably he painted or planned some of his paintings here. In the museum, his personal belongings, scenes from while he was working, and replicas of his paintings can be seen. Also, it has been known that Ataturk stayed here in 1933.
