Pessinus Archaeological Site (Eskisehir)

The Pessinus Archaeological Site is known as one of the most important places of worship where the mother goddess, called "Goddess Kybele" in Phrygian, is located. The archaeological site is located in Eskisehir Province, and the archaeological digs have been done since the 1960s. It is also known that the Roman Emperor Augustus period was its most glorious era. The temple, which is one of the most visited sites in the region, was built after his death and finished in Emperor Tiberius' era. The digs have uncovered the theater, bouleuterion, agora, columned street, and Augustan Period 7-step canal system. It was a Phrygian-originated city and a Galatian city during the Roman reign.
