Piraeus

Piraeus is a port city in Greece, located in the historical region of Attic Peninsula. It is the 5th largest county in the country and takes place on the east coast of the Saronic Gulf. According to the recorded sources, the district dates back to ancient Greece. It was established in the first half of the 5th century BC as a new port of Athens. After the port was constructed, it quickly became a center of trade and became a wealthy city during the Golden Age of Athens. It lost its importance in the 3rd century BC and began to grow again in the 19th century. Today, it is still the largest harbor area in the country, and the Bay of Zea, the port district of Mikrolimano, Kastella, the Electric Railway Museum, Agia Triada, and more can be visited.
