Rose Valley

The Rose Valley encompasses several municipalities, including Kazanlak, Karlovo, and Pavel Banya, and is located in the central part of the country. The area is renowned for having a mild climate and rich soil that are perfect for growing roses. The most common variety of rose grown in the valley is the Damask rose, which is particularly well suited for the production of rose oil. Rose oil production is an important industry in the Rose Valley, and it has a long history dating back to the Ottoman Empire. Food, cosmetics, and fragrance products all contain rose oil. The rose oil production is celebrated each year by the Rose Festival, which takes place in the beginning of June, and it's one of the most popular cultural events in Bulgaria.
