Saint George Rotunda

One of the earliest still-standing buildings in the city and one of Bulgaria's most important historical and cultural landmarks is the Saint George Rotunda. The chapel is a circular, domed building with a 14.10-meter diameter and a 14.75-meter height. The rotunda, which is adorned with paintings from the tenth century, was built with brick. The rotunda, which was first built as a pagan temple and is now dedicated to Saint George, was subsequently converted into a Christian church. It is currently a museum.
