Sarikamis

Sarikamis is a historical district in Kars Province, also known for the Battle of Sarikamis, where hundreds of Turkish soldiers froze to death. The district’s history goes back to the Byzantine period, and for a while, Russia ruled it until Seljuk commander Alparslan conquered it in 1064. The district is well known among winter sports enthusiasts, and Katherina Mansion, Ani Ruins, and Lake Cildir are the most visited sites.
