Seleucia (Hatay)
Seleucia, an ancient Greek city in the province of Hatay, was established in the fourth century BC by the general Seleucus I Nicator of Alexander the Great. Seleucia was an important commercial and cultural center in the Hellenistic period and later became a Roman city. It was abandoned after being destroyed by Arab incursions in the seventh century AD. Today, the ruins of Seleucia are an archaeological site that can be visited, and they include remains of the city walls, temples, theaters, and other structures.
