Seytan Castle

Seytan Castle is an ancient castle located in the Cildir district of Ardahan Province. It is located in the historical Erusheti region, and the name Seytan, which can be translated as "Devil Castle," was given to the castle by translating from its Georgian version after the Ottomans conquered it. It was thought to be an Uratian castle that became an Ottoman castle in the 16th century. It has been considered that Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli, in his medieval epic The Knight in the Panther's Skin, mentions Seytan Castle instead of Alamut Castle. Plus, according to Georgian historian Ekvtime Takaishvili, the castle has a prison, which is mentioned in Alp Arslan's chronicles in 1064.
