Sultan Murat Plateau

Sultan Murat Plateau is 25 km from Caykara district in Trabzon Province. It takes its name from the Ottoman Sultan Murad IV in the 17th century, after the sultan stayed for a few days while he and his army turned back from a Persian expedition. On the plateau, there is a Turkish martyrdom field left over from WWI. The plateau and the martyrdom have been visited by locals in June each year.
