Tarsus Museum

The Tarsus Museum was opened as an archeological and ethnographic museum in 1971. It was housed in the Kubat Pasa Madrasa, which was built in 1557 by Kubat Pasha of the Ramadanid Emirate. The ethnography section takes place on the first floor, where travelers can explore local garments, jewelry, rugs called "Cicim," and weapons that were generated by Yoruk (local nomadic) and Turkmen cultures. The archaeological section is located on the other floor, and the artifacts date back 7,500 years, to the Chalcolithic, Bronze, and Iron Ages, the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods.
