Temple of Domitian

The Temple of Domitian, also known as the Temple of the Sebastoi, is a Roman temple located in Ephesus. It was built in honor of the imperial cult of the Flavian dynasty during the reign of Domitian in CE 89/90. The temple's name "Sebastoi" comes from the Greek word "sebastos," which means Augustus in Latin, and refers to the imperial dynasty. This name is known from an inscription found nearby. Thanks to the temple, the city of Ephesus became the first to be called "neokoros," meaning temple-warden.
