Terrace Houses

The Terrace Houses, also referred to as Yamacevler, are located outside of Ephesus on the other side of Mount Koressos. The area was known to have been a cemetery during the Hellenistic era before being used as a settlement by the Romans. The archeological excavations of these homes, which were constructed in 1 AD and featured an open peristyle yard, revealed that they had underfloor heating and were frescoed with scenes from myths.
