The Broken Minaret

The Broken Minaret takes place in Turkey's most visited city, Antalya, which is within the walls of the old city. Originally, there was a 2nd-century AD Roman temple that was situated instead of the mosque. However, it was converted into a Byzantine church in the 7th century for the honor of the Virgin Mary, and by adding the minaret in the 13th, it was converted into a mosque. Later, it was turned into a church in 1361 by the king of Cyprus when he captured the city from the Seljuks and later turned into a mosque for the last time during the rule of Sehzade Korkut. The mosque was destroyed in 1800 by a fire, but the minaret survived. It was restored and reopened to visitors in 2021.
