The Ihlara Valley
The Ihlara Valley is one of the hot spots for travelers who are visiting the Cappadocia region, because of its all-natural features that are worth seeing, including the cave churches and a well-traveled trekking route. The first Christians who were running from the Romans settled in the valley. For years, Christians have lived here and carved around 50 churches and numerous rock buildings into the valley. Thanks to the eruptions of Mount Hasan, the rocks in the valley and Cappadocia region are tuff stone which is easy to form and allowed people to build these stone houses and churches. Along the valley, the churches of Agacalti, Yilanli (Snake), Sumbullu (Hyacinth), Direkli (Pillar), and Karagedik (Black Gap) are the most visited one.
