The Kirklar Church
According to the myth, Roman Emperor Dokios, in the 3rd century, severely persecuted Christians in Anatolia. 40 soldiers of Greek origin rebelled in Cappadocia. However, they could not succeed, were exiled to Sivas Province, thrown into an ice pond, and died from freezing. Kirklar Church was built to honor these Marty soldiers, and the bones of these forty soldiers were brought to the Mardin Kirklar Church in 1170. All the unique and traditional architectural features of Mardin and very elegant stonework can be seen in it.
