Thyateira Hill Tombs Akhisar
Thyateira’s former name was Pelopia and/or Semiramis, but King Seleucus I Nicator called it Thyateira during the Hellenistic era in 290 BC. It was located between the ancient cities of Lydia and Mysia in the classical era and became a center for the cloth trade in the Roman era. The city has one of the seven churches in the Book of Revelation, and the Apostles Paul and Silas might have visited the city. Today, the ruins and hill tombs can be visited.
