Tokat Castle
Tokat Castle is located on a rocky hill in the province of Tokat. Although there is no reliable information about who and when it was built, the traces underline that it was a settlement during the 5th or 6th centuries. It is also known that the older settlers were immigrant Christians from Comana Pontica, an ancient city on the southern coast of the Black Sea region. It was also used as a prison for a period and was called Bedouin Chardaki at that time. It is known that rebels, state administrators, and Vlad the Impaler, also known as Dracula, were held captive here.
