Tomb of Shaykh al-Islām

Shaykh al-Islām Ebussuud Efendi worked for the Ottoman Empire in the Inegol Ishak Pasha Madrasa, the Davud Pasha, Mahmud Pasha, and Mustafa Pasha Madrasa, and the Sahn-i Seman Madrasa, as well as becoming a judge in Bursa and Istanbul. In 1537, he was brought to the Rumelian Kazaskery during the Corfu Campaign of Suleiman the Magnificent, where he later became Shaykh al-Islam, replacing Fenarizade Muhyiddin Efendi, and remained in this position for 30 years until his death. His tomb takes place in Eyup Sultan district.
