Toprakkale

From the ancient ages, Toprakkale is a black stone castle located in Osmaniye Province, which is a kind of intersection between Osmaniye-Adana and Iskenderun roads. Most probably the castle dates back to 2000 BC and it has been known that during his reign Abbasid Caliph Harun Resit renewed it. The castle is a rectangular-planned one with 12 bastions and an outer courtyard wall. Ottomans called it Kinik. Throughout history, the Abbasids, Byzantines, Crusaders, Armenians, Mamluks, and Ottomans captured it.
