Yedikule Fortress

Yedikule Fortress was first built by Theodosius I to welcome the guests in a showy way because Istanbul was one of the dearest cities since it was founded. Then Theodosius II add it 4, and Mehmed the Conqueror add 3 towers to it that all reached today. The Golden Gate which was harmed during the Latin invasion was the kings' main ceremonial entrance, especially after military victories erstwhile.

All seven towers of the Yedikule Fortress have names and stories, they all were witnessed for rare occurrences in time.

Osman II Tower (also known as Osman the Young), where the Sultan was murdered by Janissaries because he was planning to create a new and more loyal army consisting of Anatolian Sekbans.

Armory Tower was the armory and a prison for criminal government officials for decades.

Ahmed III Tower, which had been destroyed by the earthquakes, takes its name from the Ottoman Sultan Ahmed III because he restore the tower in his time.

Treasure Tower was keeping the government's treasures once.

Flag Tower, the most sturdy tower of the seven is where the flag flutters even today.
