Yilankale

Yilankale is a 13th-century Armenian Castle located in Ceyhan, Adana. There is no certain information about who is the founder of the castle, but it has been thought that King Leo I (Levon) is the founder. It is built on a hill to the east bank of the river Ceyhan and the Bronze and Iron Age sites of Sirkeli and tumulus. It is believed that Shahmaran, the mythological half-woman, half-snake woman, lives in the castle. It is one of the best-preserved Armenian castles in the Cilicia region.
