Zerzevan Castle

Zerzevan Castle is a historical site in Turkey's Diyarbakir Province that has been designated as a potential Unesco World Heritage Site. It has been thought that there was another castle called Kinabu, instead of Zerzevar at the same place during Assurs. The recent archeological digs have revealed a Mithraism temple underground in the region. The Zerzevan Castle was built in the 4th century as a military base by Romans and was used until the 7th century. The archeological digs have been done for decades and the castle and the region are partially open for visits.
