Kyrgyzstan Song-Kul Tours

Access roads to Song-Kul close for much of the year, so visits run roughly from June to September, when the surrounding grassland fills with grazing horses and sheep. Nights stay cold even in midsummer, and most stays are arranged through a family-run yurt camp rather than a fixed hotel.

Riding Out From Kochkor

Multi-day horse treks to the lake typically start from Kochkor village, climbing over a pass before dropping to the shore. Clear nights here, far from any town lighting, make for some of the darkest skies in the region.
