Itinerary
We will pick you up from the airport upon arrival. Transfer for overnight stay at the Hotel. We will gather in the evening at 5:30 pm for a pre-climb briefing and an equipment check. We will also confirm you have the appropriate mandatory medical coverage and travel insurance. Dinner and overnight at the Charity hotel or similar on half board arrangements.
After completing the necessary registration formalities at Machame National Park gate, we begin to trek through the beautiful and lush forest. We will have a picnic lunch en route. The walk takes between five to six hours and we will set up camp at Machame Camp (9,800 ft).
After breakfast, we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the little valley walking along a steep rocky ridge, covered with heather, until the ridge ends. The route now turns west onto a river gorge. You will end the day with time for rest, dinner, and overnight at the Shira Campsite. Today's trek will be 5 km and takes 4-6 hours. We are ascending from 9,400ft to 12,500ft.
Today's journey will take you 10 km and 6-8 hours. We will ascend from 12,500ft to 13,000 ft. From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the "Shark's Tooth." Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 16,000ft. We now continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 13,000ft. Here we rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight. Although you end the day at the same elevation as when you started, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for summit day.
After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite. Then, we leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu Hut. At this point, you have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo can be seen from this position. This journey will take 8-10 hours and is 9km long, ascending from 13,000ft to 15,000 ft.
Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point (18,600 ft), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all they way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. At Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit. From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.
A sustained descent on a well constructed path takes us through a lovely tropical forest lively with birdsong and boasting lush undergrowth with considerable botanical interest. Our route winds down to the Kilimanjaro National Park gate at Mweka (5,400 ft); and on through coffee and banana farms to Mweka village, where we are transferred to our lodging in Arusha. [4-6 hours walking].
Pick up from your hotel in Arusha. Go for a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park which lies at the base of the East African Great Rift Valley. The northern part of the park is home to dense forest but the further south you drive the drier the landscape becomes. In this park you are most likely to see elephant, buffalo, giraffe, large troops of baboons, impala, and sometimes even lions which have developed the habit of resting in trees to escape the annoying flies. Many flamingos find their food on the banks of the shallow soda lake while pods of hippos try to protect themselves in the water against the heat of the sun. The game drive ends shortly before sunset after which your driver takes you via steep serpentine roads up to the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands with some breathtaking views back down to the lake and across the park. Dinner and overnight Lodge
The scenic road to Serengeti National Park winds through impressive montane forest along the rim of Ngorongoro Crater before descending onto the short-grass plains of the Serengeti. Along the way you can enjoy fantastic views of the caldera of Ngorongoro, some mighty extinct volcanoes, and the vast plains. Two days will be spent exploring the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is a paradise for grazers. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and other animals such as zebra and Thompson gazelle are roaming through this unique eco-system on their annual migration, always followed by lions and hyenas hunting for prey. Whilst on a game drive in Serengeti National Park, you are most likely to spot elephant, buffalo, giraffe, ostrich, and many other animal and bird species. If you're lucky, you might come across cheetah hunting or leopard resting in a tree. All meals at your camp

Today after an early breakfast, you will drive to Ngorongoro and then descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater, which is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, the Ngorongoro Crater has the highest wild animal density worldwide. Among the species are lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. You might expect to see the ‘Big Five’ in one day. Dinner and overnight.
After early breakfast, we leave for Arusha town. You have mid morning flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met by our local representative. Transfer to your hotel and after check in, you will proceed on stone town tour.
Your Stone Town tour of Zanzibar will be marked by many moments of wonder as you view the charms of this old metropolis that has retained its essence, but also has favorably, albeit cautiously embraced the elements of modernization. Every nuance of its vibrant history is evident in the beautiful buildings, some that whisper about the Omani advent in Zanzibar and others that speak about the origins of Swahili architecture fused with a Persian Shirazi influence. The narrow streets are lined with many residential houses that preserve their original Swahili-Omani themes. Overnight at the hotel.

Vaccinations and Health Precautions: A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry into both Kenya and Tanzania, so be sure to get vaccinated if you haven't already. Anti-malarial medication is also highly recommended, as both countries have areas with malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
Packing Essentials: Prepare for a range of temperatures by packing lightweight clothing, layers for cool mornings and evenings, a wide-brimmed hat, and comfortable walking shoes for game drives. Don’t forget binoculars, which make a big difference for spotting wildlife in the distance.
Cash and Currency: While credit cards are accepted in some areas, it’s best to have cash for smaller purchases and tips. Both Kenya and Tanzania accept U.S. dollars, but be sure the bills are from 2011 or later, as older ones are often not accepted.
