Highlights
Itinerary
Start your safari with a scenic drive from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park, located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. After checking in to your lodge or camp, enjoy a leisurely lunch with a view of the iconic mountain. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive through the park, where you’ll encounter large herds of elephants, as well as lions, cheetahs, zebras, and various bird species. Amboseli’s landscape, with its vast savannas and salt flats, offers stunning views of Kilimanjaro, making this an unforgettable experience. Overnight at a lodge or tented camp within or near the park.
After an early breakfast, drive to Tsavo West National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy a game drive and explore the park’s diverse habitats, from savannahs to volcanic hills. Visit Mzima Springs, a key highlight of Tsavo West, where you can watch hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife in crystal-clear waters. In the afternoon, continue your game drive through the park, spotting the Big Five, including elephants, lions, and buffaloes. You can also visit the Shetani Lava Flow, formed by volcanic eruptions centuries ago. Overnight at a lodge or camp in Tsavo West.
On your final day, enjoy an early morning game drive in Tsavo West to catch the animals at their most active, as well as to experience the park’s stunning sunrise. Afterward, head back for breakfast, then embark on a mid-morning game drive, covering different sections of the park for more wildlife sightings. After lunch, begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon, filled with incredible memories of your African safari.

Visa Requirements: You’ll need visas for both Kenya and Tanzania. For convenience, some travelers can apply for an East African tourist visa, which covers Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Make sure to confirm visa requirements based on your nationality.
Vaccinations and Health Precautions: A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry into both Kenya and Tanzania, so be sure to get vaccinated if you haven't already. Anti-malarial medication is also highly recommended, as both countries have areas with malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
Packing Essentials: Prepare for a range of temperatures by packing lightweight clothing, layers for cool mornings and evenings, a wide-brimmed hat, and comfortable walking shoes for game drives. Don’t forget binoculars, which make a big difference for spotting wildlife in the distance.
Cash and Currency: While credit cards are accepted in some areas, it’s best to have cash for smaller purchases and tips. Both Kenya and Tanzania accept U.S. dollars, but be sure the bills are from 2011 or later, as older ones are often not accepted.
Local Customs and Etiquette: Respect local customs by asking permission before photographing the Maasai or other local people. Dress modestly, especially when visiting villages or interacting with the local community, to show respect for cultural norms.
