This 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari includes 2 nights of comfortable accommodation in carefully selected safari lodges situated near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to Uganda's endangered mountain gorillas.

Accommodation Arrangements

Night 1 – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Upon arrival in the Bwindi region, guests will check into their selected safari lodge, relax and enjoy the peaceful rainforest surroundings before their gorilla trekking adventure the following morning.

Night 2 – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Following the unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience, guests will return to their lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Accommodation Categories

Depending on the selected safari package, accommodation may be arranged in budget, midrange or luxury safari lodges.

All lodges are carefully selected for their comfort, hospitality, location and accessibility to the designated gorilla trekking sector.

Rooms are generally arranged on a double or twin-sharing basis, while single rooms may be available at an additional supplement.

Accommodation is subject to availability at the time of booking. Where a preferred lodge is unavailable, Gorilla Safari Consultants will arrange a suitable alternative of a comparable standard.

Meals are provided according to the confirmed safari itinerary and selected accommodation package.

Professional Safari Driver-Guide

Throughout the three-day adventure, guests will be accompanied by a knowledgeable safari driver-guide who provides insights into Uganda's landscapes, wildlife, local communities, traditions and conservation efforts.

Your guide will coordinate scheduled transfers, assist with lodge check-ins, provide travel information and ensure smooth arrangements throughout the safari.

Expert Gorilla Trekking Ranger-Guides

On the gorilla trekking day, guests will be accompanied by authorised Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) ranger-guides who lead the trekking experience through Bwindi's tropical rainforest.

Before trekking begins, the ranger-guides will provide a comprehensive safety briefing, explain gorilla trekking regulations and offer valuable information about mountain gorilla behaviour, conservation and their natural habitat.

During the trek, guests will follow the ranger-guides' instructions while searching for an allocated habituated mountain gorilla family. Once the gorillas are located, visitors are normally permitted to spend up to one unforgettable hour observing them, subject to park regulations.

Tour Language

English is the standard guiding language throughout the safari. Other languages, including Spanish, French and German, may be arranged upon advance request, subject to guide availability and possible additional charges.

This 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari includes delicious, freshly prepared meals at carefully selected safari lodges and restaurants, allowing guests to enjoy both traditional Ugandan cuisine and international dishes throughout their journey.

Day 1 – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Lunch will be provided at a selected restaurant along the journey, followed by dinner at the safari lodge upon arrival in Bwindi.

Day 2 – Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience

Guests will enjoy an early breakfast at the lodge before departing for their mountain gorilla trekking adventure.

A packed picnic lunch will be provided for the trekking experience, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at an appropriate time during the day's activities.

After returning from the trek, guests will enjoy dinner at their safari lodge.

Day 3 – Return Transfer and Departure

Breakfast will be served at the lodge before departure. Lunch will be provided during the return journey if included in the confirmed safari itinerary.

Special Dietary Requirements

Vegetarian, vegan and other special dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice, subject to availability and lodge arrangements.

Drinking Water and Beverages

This 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari includes comfortable, reliable and private ground transportation throughout the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to Uganda's endangered mountain gorillas.

Guests will travel in a well-maintained 4x4 safari vehicle, accompanied by an experienced, professional English-speaking safari driver-guide from Gorilla Safari Consultants.

Our safari vehicles are suitable for Uganda's varied road conditions and provide comfortable seating, spacious windows, luggage storage and excellent opportunities to enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the journey.

Day 1 – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Guests will be collected from the agreed pick-up location and transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in a private 4x4 safari vehicle.

Along the journey, guests will enjoy scenic countryside views, with scheduled stops for refreshments, photography and relaxation where appropriate.

Upon arrival in Bwindi, the driver-guide will transfer guests directly to their selected safari lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking Transportation

After an early breakfast, guests will be transferred from their lodge to the designated Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla trekking briefing point.

Following the unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience, the driver-guide will transfer guests back to their lodge for relaxation and overnight accommodation.

Day 3 – Return Transfer and Departure

After breakfast, guests will depart Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and travel by private 4x4 safari vehicle to their agreed drop-off location, marking the end of their memorable Uganda gorilla safari.

Good to Know – 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari

1. Gorilla Trekking Permits

This safari includes one mountain gorilla trekking permit per eligible traveller for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, subject to availability and booking confirmation. Gorilla trekking permits are limited, so early booking is strongly recommended, particularly during peak travel seasons.

2. Minimum Age for Gorilla Trekking

The minimum age for mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda is 15 years. Travellers below this age are not permitted to participate in the standard gorilla trekking experience.

3. Physical Fitness and Trekking Conditions

Mountain gorilla trekking involves walking through dense tropical rainforest, sometimes on steep, muddy and uneven terrain. A reasonable level of physical fitness is recommended. Trekking duration varies depending on the location and movement of the gorilla family.

4. Gorilla Viewing Experience

Once the allocated gorilla family is located, visitors are normally permitted to spend up to one hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat, subject to Uganda Wildlife Authority regulations. Gorilla sightings cannot be absolutely guaranteed.

5. What to Pack

We recommend sturdy waterproof hiking boots, long trousers, long-sleeved shirts, a lightweight rain jacket, gardening gloves, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, a small daypack, drinking water and a camera. Walking sticks and porter services may be available locally.

6. Best Time to Visit Bwindi

Gorilla trekking is available throughout the year. The relatively drier months of June to September and December to February are often preferred because forest trails may be easier to navigate. However, rainfall can occur at any time.

7. Accommodation and Meals

The safari includes two nights of accommodation in carefully selected safari lodges near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Meals are provided according to the confirmed itinerary and selected accommodation package. Please communicate any dietary requirements before departure.

8. Transportation and Driving Distances

This is a road-based safari conducted in a private 4x4 safari vehicle with a professional English-speaking driver-guide.

Travelling from Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi generally takes approximately 8–10 hours, depending on the trekking sector, road conditions and scheduled stops.

The confirmed pick-up and drop-off locations will be specified in the final itinerary.

9. Visa and Entry Requirements

International travellers should check the applicable visa, passport and immigration requirements before departure.

10. Health and Vaccinations

Travellers should consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding malaria prevention, vaccinations and other travel health precautions.

A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required for entry into Uganda under applicable immigration and public health regulations. Travellers should verify the current requirements and any exemptions before departure.

11. Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. The policy should provide appropriate coverage for medical emergencies, evacuation, trip cancellation, travel delays and gorilla trekking activities.

12. Responsible Gorilla Trekking

All visitors must follow the instructions of Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guides. Guests must maintain the required distance from gorillas, avoid flash photography, refrain from feeding or touching wildlife and respect the park's conservation regulations.

Travellers experiencing potentially infectious symptoms may be restricted from participating in gorilla trekking to protect the gorillas.

13. Photography

Photography is permitted during gorilla trekking, but flash photography is prohibited. Guests should protect their camera equipment against rain and humidity. A camera with good low-light performance is recommended.

14. Booking and Cancellation Conditions

Safari reservations are subject to gorilla permit availability, accommodation confirmation and the applicable booking conditions. Gorilla trekking permits are generally non-refundable once purchased, subject to Uganda Wildlife Authority rules and any applicable exceptions.

15. Arrival and Departure Arrangements

Guests should provide their arrival and departure flight details before the safari begins. Airport transfers are provided only as specified in the confirmed itinerary.

For safaris returning to Entebbe from Bwindi on Day 3, travellers should allow sufficient time for the long road journey and international airport check-in. An additional overnight stay may be recommended for early departure flights.

Guests are encouraged to communicate any special requirements, mobility concerns or travel preferences in advance to help us organise a comfortable and memorable Uganda gorilla trekking experience.

International and domestic flights are not included in the 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari package price.

Guests are responsible for arranging and paying for their international return flights to and from Uganda or Rwanda, depending on their chosen safari starting point.

This safari is primarily a road-based adventure, with comfortable private transportation provided in a 4x4 safari vehicle throughout the itinerary.

For safaris departing from Entebbe or Kampala, guests will travel by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Domestic flights to airstrips near Bwindi, including Kihihi or Kisoro, may be arranged upon request at an additional cost, subject to availability.

Airport pick-up and drop-off are included only where specified in the confirmed safari itinerary.

Travel Insurance – Not Included

Travel insurance is not included in the 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari package price.

We recommend choosing an insurance policy that provides coverage for:

• Gorilla Trekking Activities: Coverage for guided trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, including forest hiking on steep, muddy and uneven terrain.

• Trip Cancellation or Interruption: Protection against eligible unforeseen circumstances that may prevent or interrupt travel.
