The safari is arranged on a full-board meal plan during the scheduled safari days, including breakfast, lunch and dinner as specified in the confirmed itinerary.

Breakfast is generally served at the lodge before departure for the day's activities. Lunch may be provided at the lodge, at a restaurant along the route or as a packed picnic during game drives, chimpanzee trekking and gorilla trekking. Important Travel Information – 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Trek, Chimpanzees and Wildlife Safari

1. Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Permits

This safari includes one mountain gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and one chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale Forest National Park, subject to permit availability and confirmation. Trekking permits are limited and should be reserved well in advance, particularly during peak travel seasons.

2. Minimum Age Requirements

The minimum age for gorilla trekking in Uganda is 15 years. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park generally has a minimum age requirement of 12 years. Travellers must satisfy the applicable age requirements to participate.

3. Physical Fitness and Trekking Conditions

Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking involves walking through tropical forests, sometimes across steep, muddy, slippery and uneven terrain. A reasonable level of physical fitness is recommended. Gorilla trekking duration varies depending on the location of the gorilla family and prevailing forest conditions.

4. What to Pack

We recommend comfortable hiking boots with good grip, long trousers, long-sleeved shirts, a lightweight waterproof jacket, gardening gloves for forest trekking, insect repellent, sunscreen, a sunhat, binoculars, a camera and a reusable water bottle. A small daypack is useful for carrying personal essentials during trekking activities.

5. Uganda Visa and Entry Requirements

International travellers should confirm their visa requirements before departure. Visitors requiring a Uganda visa should apply through the official Uganda immigration e-visa system. Passport validity and other immigration requirements must be checked before travelling.

6. Health and Vaccination Requirements

Travellers should consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding recommended vaccinations, malaria prevention and other travel health precautions. The yellow fever vaccination certificate is nolonger required for entry into Uganda.

7. Weather and Best Time to Visit

Uganda offers wildlife viewing and primate trekking throughout the year. The relatively drier months of June to September and December to February are often preferred for trekking and game drives. However, rainfall can occur at any time, especially in forested regions.

8. Accommodation and Meals

The safari includes six nights of accommodation in carefully selected safari lodges and hotels. Meals are provided according to the confirmed itinerary. Please inform Gorilla Safari Consultants in advance of any dietary restrictions or special requirements.

9. Transportation and Driving Distances

This seven-day safari covers several national parks and involves considerable road travel. Guests will travel in a comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle accompanied by a professional English-speaking driver-guide. Driving times may vary depending on road conditions, weather and scheduled stops.

10. Wildlife Sightings

Uganda's national parks are home to mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos and numerous bird species. However, wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed because animals move freely in their natural habitats.

11. Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. Travellers should ensure their policy covers medical emergencies, evacuation, trip cancellation, lost luggage and forest trekking activities.

12. Responsible Tourism and Conservation

Guests must follow all instructions provided by Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guides, maintain the required distance from primates, avoid littering and respect local communities and wildlife habitats. Travellers who are unwell with potentially infectious symptoms may be prevented from participating in primate trekking to protect the animals.

13. Booking Confirmation and Cancellation

All safari bookings are subject to availability of accommodation, trekking permits and other scheduled services. Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking permits are subject to Uganda Wildlife Authority booking, amendment and cancellation conditions. Guests should review Gorilla Safari Consultants' booking terms and cancellation policy before confirming their reservation.

14. Arrival and Departure Arrangements

The safari normally begins with collection from Entebbe International Airport or an agreed location in Kampala or Entebbe and concludes with a return transfer on Day 7. Travellers should share their flight details in advance. Due to the long journey from Bwindi to Entebbe, departure flights should be scheduled sufficiently late to allow for the road transfer and airport check-in.

15. Personalised Safari Assistance

Gorilla Safari Consultants provides pre-departure travel guidance and safari coordination assistance. Guests are encouraged to communicate any special requirements, mobility concerns or travel preferences before booking.

International and domestic flights are not included in the safari package price.

Guests are responsible for arranging and paying for their international return flights to and from Entebbe International Airport (EBB), Uganda, as well as any domestic flights they may wish to take.

This 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Trek, Chimpanzees and Wildlife Safari is primarily a road-based adventure, with comfortable transportation provided in a private 4x4 safari vehicle throughout the itinerary.

Airport pick-up and drop-off at Entebbe International Airport are included as specified in the confirmed safari itinerary.

Domestic flights may be arranged upon request at an additional cost, subject to availability and any necessary adjustments to the itinerary.

Travel insurance is not included in the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Trek, Chimpanzees and Wildlife Safari package price.

All travellers are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance before departing for Uganda. The policy should provide suitable coverage for emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation, medical evacuation and repatriation, trip cancellation or interruption, travel delays, lost or damaged luggage, and other unforeseen circumstances.
