What makes this tour special
Itinerary
On arrival at Leh Airport, our G Experiences representative will meet and greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Leh. After check-in, rest and relax for the day to acclimatize and prepare for the next day’s tour to Sham Valley.
If time and weather permit, you may visit Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and Leh Market. Enjoy your evening at leisure with your own activities.
Overnight at Hotel.
After breakfast in the morning, proceed for an excursion downstream along the Indus River from Leh. En route, visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, located deep in the Himalayas.
After about 4 kms, visit Magnetic Hill, a natural wonder that appears to defy the law of gravity. Continue driving through a picturesque landscape to reach the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers.
Before Saspul, take a right turn to visit Likir Monastery, one of the most active monasteries in the region. A recently installed colossal gilded statue of Maitreya Buddha in the open is one of the most impressive sights in Ladakh.
After visiting the monastery, continue your drive towards Uleytokpo or Tingmosgang along the Indus River. En route, visit Rizong Monastery. Those interested may opt for a short walk up to the monastery. Hidden at the end of a steep valley, the first view of the monastery is truly dramatic.
After visiting the above attractions in the Leh region, drive back to your hotel in Leh. Upon arrival, enjoy dinner at the hotel and prepare for the next day’s adventure in Ladakh.
Overnight at Hotel.
After a lavish breakfast at the hotel in Leh, check out and proceed to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass. From the pass, you can enjoy breathtaking views stretching south over the Indus Valley to countless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar Range, and north towards the towering Saser Massif.
Nubra Valley, also known as Ldumra (the Valley of Flowers), is located in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is around 10,000 feet above sea level.
Upon arrival in Nubra Valley, our driver will transfer you to your pre-booked hotel. Check in and relax. If time permits, take a walk around the nearby villages to experience the local lifestyle in this remote part of Ladakh.
Overnight at Hotel.
After breakfast in the morning, proceed to Hunder, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a ride on a Bactrian camel (double-humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high-altitude desert, with snow-capped mountains on the horizon.
Between Hunder and Diskit, you will come across sand dunes along the roadside. In isolation, these dunes resemble those of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. It is indeed an unusual sight, as rocky mountains typical of the Ladakhi landscape lie on one side, while snow-capped peaks can be seen in the distance.
On your return, stop at Diskit, the headquarters of Nubra Valley. Stroll through the local bazaar and observe daily life. Diskit is famous for its 515-year-old Buddhist monastery, beautifully situated on a hilltop overlooking the entire valley.
After completing your sightseeing and camel ride in Nubra, return to your hotel, check out, and drive back to Leh via Khardung La, following the same route. Upon arrival in Leh, transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay and enjoy dinner at the hotel.
Overnight at Hotel.
Wake up early in the morning and have breakfast at the hotel, or you may request a packed breakfast. Then proceed to Pangong Lake. En route, visit Shey Palace, the ancient capital of Upper Ladakh. After a short drive of about 5 kms, reach Thiksey Monastery, an impressive complex rising in tiers on a hill above the village.
After visiting these places, continue your drive towards Chang La Pass (5,486 meters), one of the highest motorable passes in the world and a popular spot for photography. From here, descend to the village of Tangtse, where you can take a short break, enjoy some tea, and relax.
After leaving Tangtse, continue your drive to Pangong Lake, passing through the Changthang region. Pangong Lake is approximately 5-6 kms wide and over 133 kms long, with a portion extending across the Indo-China border.
Upon arrival at Pangong Lake, check in to your camp for an overnight stay. If time permits, spend some time exploring and enjoying the scenic beauty of the lake.
Overnight at Camp.
After breakfast at the camp, spend some time exploring Pangong Lake and its nearby surroundings. Later in the afternoon, drive back to Leh. En route, visit Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic foundation of the Drukpa Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism.
Upon arrival in Leh, check in to your hotel for an overnight stay. The evening is free for shopping or leisure activities. As this is your last day in the Ladakh region, you may also pack your bags and relax at the hotel in preparation for your departure the next day.
Overnight at Hotel.
Today, after breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Leh Airport to board your flight back home.
