Tarsus is a county that lies in the core of the Cukurova region. The first settlements in its history date back to 6,000 years ago, and between Mersin and Adana provinces it has been an important stop and trade center. It was the capital of Cilicia during the Roman Period and the scene of the meeting of Mark Antony and Cleopatra. Plus, it is the birthplace of Paul the Apostle and the house of visiting sites: The Roman Bridge of Justinian, St. Paul's Church, Nusret the Minelayer, Seven Sleepers' Cave, St. Paul's Well, Cleopatra Gate, Tarsus Museum, Ulu Mosque. It is on the religious tour itinerary mostly.
