It is famous for its white-washed houses with their many windows which, seem to have been built on top of each other, which give it the nickname “town of a thousand windows”. Because of these, the town retains a unique style of architecture, with narrow and stone-paved streets. The castle is unique in Albania and among the few in the world that still has houses and inhabitants within its walls, going on their life’s at the same place their predecessors did centuries ago. Visit of the Amphitheatre from outside and the old walls and the area known as the forum. Return to the ship.

Kruje is a historic Albanian town perched on the side of a mountain. Originally inhabited by the Albani Illyrian tribe, it was also the capital of the first Albanian state in the Middle Ages, the Principality of Arber, before becoming the capital of the Kingdom of Albania. The town is also known for being recaptured by Albanian hero Skanderberg from the Ottomans in 1443. Today, the town is home to the Skanderbeg Museum, the national Ethnographic Museum, Kruja Castle and the Old Bazaar.
